The Sarthe Group

In October 2007 a meeting was hosted in St Michel de Chavaignes (near Le Mans in the French province of Sarthe) with the bold mission of increasing the profile of space in the UK. The aim was to encourage all British involvement in space and to enable space related outreach and education. A group of industry experts, academics and representatives of outreach organisations were called together to discuss how closer ties could be made between the different estranged limbs of the UK space community. The suggestion was that of a central forum that could be used by the entire space community. This forum would culminate in a large inclusive conference that would showcase the best of British talent whilst educating and informing the general public of the contributions to space science that the UK is making. Behind the scenes this conference will be organised by the experts behind BROHP and UKSEDS, who will apply their extensive experience to ensure a smooth running and an enjoyable event.

This website represents the larger virtual conference that will help connect people together in the weeks and months surrounding the conference. It will act as a "one stop shop" for enthusiasts, academics and the media to find out "what's hot in UK space". Stay tuned for regular updates, news items, blogs and podcasts.
